Academic Work

My scholarly work has always been about more than just checking boxes or adding lines to a CV—it’s about bridging the gap between big ideas and real impact. It’s about asking questions that matter, experimenting with new ways to share knowledge, and finding joy in the messy, collaborative process of learning.

This section is by no means an all-encompassing collection of every scholarly thing I have ever done; after spending over a decade in college, that would be Herculean task. Think of this as a highlight reel. The content featured here either 1) makes me proud of myself or what I’ve created; 2) showcases my voice, style, and talent; or 3) was something that I just loved working on.

Sample Syllabi

A collection of syllabi for courses I’ve created–and taught, in the case of Writing as Inquiry–throughout my doctoral program. Each of these syllabi highlight different areas of my research focus and together create a fairly all-encompassing representation of who I am and what I’m about as an educator.

Walking my Talk: Comprehensive Exam Presentation

The final step from “PhD Student” to “PhD Candidate” is the completion and defense of your comprehensive exams. For these exams, I created pedagogy and research portfolios. The syllabi created for my pedagogy portfolio are linked above. My research portfolio focused heavily on my dissertation project—a digital platform focused on community building, public education, and scholarly activism—which is still very much a work-in-progress. This portfolio also contained one of my favorite essays I’ve ever written, check it out below!
